She Who Dances With Angels

Monday, August 14, 2017

A funny thing happened over the weekend. Our temps dropped down into the 70's! Now, the temps have leveled out to what should be their normal this time of year which is 80's and low 90's and I am so, so thankful! Our summer was brutal with triple digits.
Another funny thing? While I was out n' about this weekend I passed so many people walking their dogs who looked like their dogs! Or their dogs looked like them. Seriously. It was the whole hair/fur thing.

If the guy was fuzzy his pup was fuzzy. If the woman had short n' sassy hair, her pup had short n' sassy fur. It was crazy and got me to thinking. I wondered how many people actually have pets that look like them and vice versa.
Well, apparently A LOT of people do!

I couldn't take pics of the people I was seeing because that would've been weird but fortunately, there are other people who don't find this weird at all.

One of the guys I passed was walking a full-size poodle just like this one below only the guy's hair was 3 times bigger and curlier on his head and he had a wild beard going on. I wish I could've gotten a pic of him.

I know, I know. This last one isn't a dog but it's an adorable and beautiful photo and they do look alike!
I was happily surprised to draw this angel card this morning.
This card brings about all things positive and truly life changing. Moving forward with luck on your side!
It's so true to what is happening in my life right now and I am so thankful my angels are right there with me every step of the way.
PS - Guess what? Yours are too!
(This angel deck brought to you by Doreen Virtue and her band of angels.)
I hope your Monday was a fantastic beginning for a wonderful week ahead!

It's been all over the internet and rumor has it that Queen Elizabeth has passed over that undeserving son of hers, Charles and will crown Prince William the next King of England. If this is true I am ready for an all out happy dance but so far the only "news sources" reporting this are "rag mags" without much credibility.

I don't know what the protocol is for the Royals. I'm curious as to whether or not the Queen is bound by the traditions of the monarchy or could she if she so chose, absolutely pass over Charles and his prune, Camilla Godzilla and bestow the crown to the one most deserving of such a title, Prince William.

On my mother's side, England is one of my countries of origin so I blame her genes for my obsession over the Royals when in fact nothing they do has any consequence in my life what-so-ever but still I adore them - them, as a whole, individually I could definitely take some and leave some.

I suppose it's my own selfishness that is wishing and hoping that the crown goes to Prince William next because seriously, well, he's just great "eye candy" and his family is adorable.
Have a great weekend everybody.
And if anybody can verify that this rumor is true or false please comment below.
Fingers, eyes, and toes all crossed that the next King is in fact, William.

I have to say, I woke up to an absolutely beautiful day today. The temps are perfect, the sun is shining, the pup slept in and all is right with the world.
I passed my every 3 months doc check up with flying colors! I've lost weight, my blood pressure is great. No lumps or bumps or swollen anything that would send me to the oncologist.
I'm over the moon!

Not to be paranoid or anything but once you've had cancer, normal check ups with the doc just aren't the same anymore.
And speaking of paranoid... Our wifi went out so we had to call the cable company which is always a pain to deal with.
First, you have to explain to them in precise detail what the issue is. You can't just tell them the wifi went out.
Then they have you go thru their 100 DIY steps to fix it, which of course, you've already tried otherwise you wouldn't be calling them in the first place, right?
THEN, they send you a cable guy.

It's always a roll of the dice with these guys. Most times we get a 12-year old that much like Jon Snow knows nothing. However, the roll of the dice was with us on this day. We didn't get a 12-year old nor did we get a serial killer. Yay!
AND we found out that since we've never been late with our bill in the almost 3 yrs. we've been with them we have a $200 credit! Score!
Note: If you've been with a company for a very long time, check your discounts. You may have some like we did!
Not much else happening around here today. I'm still working on crochet projects as I'm keeping a close eye on the calendar, watching as weddings, babies and holidays are fast approaching...
So, so very much to do!

I say it all the time, I need more than 24 hours in a day! Do any of you feel the same?? If I wasn't way past the age of "pulling an all nighter" one of two of those from my youth would come in very handy right about now.

Happy almost weekend everyone!

***Why is it that dogs must sniff every square inch of grass before deciding to do their deed?

***One of my least favorite things to do?
Empty expired milk down the drain. No matter what it still has a stench that rises up from the sink and makes me gag!

***I'm one of those people who must finish one series on Netflix before moving on to another. Currently, I'm watching Midsomer Murders despite the fact that the original "Inspector Barnaby" has left the show. I miss John Nettles. The show was so much better with him in it.
And, he's hot.

***The song 'Issues' by Julia Michaels is just dumb.

***Why don't black-out curtains work?
Light still gets thru.
They don't keep your room warmer in the winter.
Nor do they keep your room cooler in the summer.

I'm just not a fan of products that don't work like they're advertised. Sorta' like going thru a drive-thru. Your food never looks like the pics on the order board.

***Dear parents of the kids who have been running around screaming at the top of their lungs ALL day. -
Don't set your kids loose to scream like they're being drawn and quartered and then think you're going to go take a little nap while the rest of us must endure the hideousness that is your spawn.
Not happening.

On the plus side of life, the temps are cooling down and I've got the majority of moving/rearranging/sorting/cleaning done.
I didn't pick up my crochet hook once!
This mama is beat. Netflix and bed here I come.
Dr. appt. tomorrow. Prayers and good vibes much appreciated. I hope this Tuesday has been good to you and Wednesday is even better.

And just like that, the weekend was over! I have to admit I didn't do much over the weekend. It pretty much was Netflix and crocheting.

I've been playing around with slouchy hat patterns.
I made this one with some yarn stash but it still needs tweaking and will probably end up on a tree downtown this winter for the homeless.
- Our city has a group of trees that you can hang hats, scarves and mittens/gloves on in the fall and winter. When it gets cold the homeless just help themselves to what they need. -
My D-I-L doesn't want me to give it away. We'll see after I get a cool tassel on the end and a super cool flower somewhere on the band. I never know what the outcome will be.

I started this blanket over the weekend and I'm really diggin' this stitch. It's called a "simple shell stitch" and it really is simple and goes fast. I like projects that you can just mindlessly work on and then before you know it, they're done.
I'm also working on hats/scarves/gloves/mittens for the "homeless" trees.

I spent the majority of my day today cleaning and trying to find creative ways to store more fabric and yarn! Not even kidding. You might see me on the next episode of 'Hoarders.' I took the space under the bed and made my pup Luci, mad. Every now and again she likes to curl up under there and take a lit'l snooze but we've got tons of people showing up in a couple of months for the wedding and I'm pretty sure my storage space trumps her snooze hole!

We're finally cooling down out here. Hallelujah! It's only in the low 90's now with some 80's thrown in. I can live with this weather.

What did your weekend look like?
How 'bout the week ahead?? Anything thrilling and spine chilling happening??

A Hot, Stinky, Wonderful Day

Today was all about running errands in this gawd awful heat and then coming back home to park on the street while the asphalt sealing gets done in our parking lot and spaces. Can I just tell you how smelly it is out there? And that smell on top of the heat, on top of having to walk around that crap to get into our apartment.
Just. Shoot me.

On the plus side of this ridiculously hot n' stinky situation. I got myself a new phone today. The Galaxy S8. I love it. I'm still figuring it out but I absolutely LOVE it. My old phone had gotten into the habit of randomly shutting itself off and when it came time to take a pic my screen was black. So weird but it was time.
Did I happen to mention how much I love this phone? AND I got a free JBL wireless speaker and some free accessories too! Such a great deal.

I have to say this has been a day of good news all around.

My son got some great news from his doc. A HUGE blessing. And my soon-to-be daughter-in-law just found out at least one of her sisters will make it to the wedding

It's been a long day but a fun day which ended on the disc golfing course and my son found a bonus disc in the woods. Score. Disc golfing really is a "finders keepers, losers weepers" sort of game.
Here's a random photo from my new cool phone.
I know it's a pod from some kind of tree but the only trees we have around us are pine trees. I have no idea where it came from but it was right next to the patio this morning.

Well, it's another early day tomorrow but not quite so many errands AND we'll get to park back in our spaces! Yay!

I hope you've all had a great day. It's Thursday. Anybody have any weekend plans?? From now until the wedding my life will be all about cleaning and prepping. Hopefully, I'll be able to fit some crocheting into the mix. All work and no play drives this girl crazy!

Day #1 on the new blog was quiet. I haven't shared this blog with anyone I know or any of my followers from my old blog. I did test the Blogger waters and commented on a couple of "new to me" blogs with no feedback. I'm hoping it was because I'm a bit rusty with Blogger and had forgotten to check the "make my blog public" box.
Note to self -
No one can read your blog if you don't release it to the public.

My day today is mostly running errands and mailing off some glasses and mugs that I make with my awesome Cricut Explore Air. I'm hoping to get all of that done before the heat of the day takes over and seriously, even with the AC blasting in your vehicle it's still hot out there.

Just walking from the car into the store the heat from the asphalt is enough to make your skin melt off. Which for me, would be a great weight loss technique and truth be told I could probably use a few long walks on that hot asphalt!

I know I sound like a whiner but these triple digit temps have been going on for weeks and there is no relief in sight. I love my sunshine and warm - warm, not melt your flesh off - temps but right now I would love to wake up to a chilly morning and pumpkin spice everything!

Once I get back home to my wonderfully air conditioned apartment, so cold you could hang meat or store bodies - your choice. - I'll be doing a little reading. I'm a total book worm and book hoarder. I often read several books at a time but always one will grab a hold of me and I'll find myself reading it most often.

The book that currently has my undivided attention is 'The Purpose Driven Life' by Rick Warren. I've skimmed through this book several times in my life but now I am actually reading the words and contemplating all of the messages.

My whole life I've wondered what my reason for being was. I've always known that I was born to be of service to others, to protect them and to fight for them. Just as I have always known that my guardian angel is Michael the archangel. What I haven't known is how. I'm hoping 'The Purpose Driven Life' will shed some light.

"Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails."
(Proverbs 19:21)

May we all find our purpose...

STEP 1 - Hello...

It's been a while since I've been on the Blogger side of blogging. A long while. Up until recently, I had a blog on Wordpress which I abruptly shut down. To date, no one has noticed or if they have they haven't mentioned anything to me.

Why the new blog? Because it was time? I don't have so much as a reason as I had a feeling. Literally, one night I was sitting at my desk in the wee hours of the morn, alone with my thoughts and what I can only describe as a cleansing wave washed over me and to my core I knew I needed to release my other blog and start this one.

What's different? Me. I'm different. It's been slow in coming. The changes from within. You might call it an awakening. I just like to think that I'm finally getting back to the woman I was born to be and remembering who's daughter I am and to whom I belong.
And guess what? I like her! I hope you will too!

What to expect from this new blog?

Positivity. Encouragement. Love. Blessings. Life. Joy. Creativity.
And of course, angels. Lots n' lots of angels.

They're all around us and with us always.
Listen for them.

Look for them and talk to them.
They're as real as you or me.

Also, I'm a believer. I know that God is real. Jesus Christ lives. And the Holy Spirit is here to accompany us on our journey "home."
Also, I cuss a little.

Here's to the adventure ahead!

May His blessings rain down from the heavens and may His love be present in your lives always.

"Welcome, August with all of your fiery heat.
May our souls be set aflame with the love and mercy of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ."
